"Shenhua Excellence Institute" held Report given by Academician Wang Erkang and Doong Shaojun

On September 27, when the whole country was under  an atmosphere of gaiety and excitement for celebrating the 70th birthday of the People's Republic of China, the university invited academicians Wang Erkang and Dong Shaojun from Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry of the CAS to give an academic report at "Shenhua Excellence Institute".Vice President, professor Jin Zhihao presided over the lecture.

Academician Wang Erkang first shared his experience of leaving his hometown to support the construction of northeast China in response to the call of the Party and the country after his graduation from university and how he became attached to SYUCT. He then made an academic report entitled "Analysis of Science for the Development of Science and Technology". In the report, Acadamician Wang described the origin, the development and the great role of analytical chemistry in promoting the progress of human society. Then he introduced a series of achievements of the research group in promoting the development of science and technology through the use of analytical chemistry.

Academician Dong Shaojun first recalled the scene and the emotions of the 1949 National Day when he was a representative of college students, participated in the parade in front of the Tian’anmen square, receiving Chairman Mao's inspection. After that, Dong made an academic report entitled "Single Atom Nano-Enzyme". The report described the development of Fe3O4 nano materials and their important applications in biosensors, therapeutics and environmental protection since 2007, when Chinese scholars proposed the enzymatic properties of Fe3O4 nano materials.

Vice President, Professor Jin Zhihao presented the appointment letter for Acadamician Wang Erkang and Academician Dong Shaojun as “Lecture Professors of Shenhua Excellence Institute” and made a summary speech.
